Hi, sorry to hear that you are still having pain. Un fourtunately, even a little bit of smoking will cause problems though. I feel your pain about giving up favorite things, I don't smoke but I LOVE coffee and chocolate and as you well know those things are bad for GERD patients. I think the surgery can be undone. Fortunately, the Nissen was a godsend for me and I was lucky enough to have a talented surgeon who did the surgery beautifully. There are good surgeons out there and I know they can re-do nissens also. Best of luck to you.

I have the "Nissen" surgery about two years ago and am today in just as bad a condition as I was prior to the surgery. Is it possible for the surgery to be undone? Is it possible that the surgery can be causing more problems than it is helping? Regardless of what or when or how much I eat - I SUFFER!! I am a smoker, but only smoke less than 5 cigs a day - not a habit, just a hobby...Anyone have any thoughts? I have just recently had another upper endoscopy to see what the problem might be - THE DOCTOR FOUND NOTHING!!! Do I need to find another doctor or is this 'heart attack with every meal' all in my head???
